I don't like cut flowers. I always think flowers look better when they are growing rather than slowly dying in a vase, wilting under the unnatural environment of our houses. Picked and unable to carry out their intended function. Biologically a waste, then thrown away to fill up some landfill somewhere. Unless of course the receiving person is nice enough to put them in a compost bin. But still sometimes they can start to rot in those vases, covering over with a film of mould and grime until all you have is a slimy lump of biological matter drooping over the edges of that pretty glass/china container, threatening to weep on to your surfaces and spread its noxious infection to your whole house.
But then are fake flowers any better, they simply gather dust and fade where they sit on the windowsill, the plastic in them breaking down inevitably just much slower than a real flower. Until the plastic petals fall off and litter the area below. You could glue them back on I guess but the weigh
